Would you try to save your son thats a hard core meth addict, or just let him self destruct?

My son who is 28 is ruining his life,his marriage,his 4 yr. old son. I think he is on a suicide mission. When or should I step in and try to help?
My son has had problems for years and I’ve always been there for him with motherly love and tough love. He is at the worst I’ve ever seen him. He has been in rehab many times and jail many times but continues downward. My own guilt overwhelms me and then what do I do if he ods’ or commits suicide? It’s just a matter of time…..

Sympathy for you and his family. How can you help??? Unfortunately, he has to hit bottom before he helps himself. If you have an intervention or somehow force him to get help…and he’s not ready…..it won’t work!

He must do it….How sad and what a waste of a life.

step in.he needs a long term treatment center dont go for the short term they dont work exspecially for a habit like that. do a intervention and if you have to im sure theres a way you can force him into it. hes endangering his kids and family.everyone one he knows is going to have to pull together at that age its hard unless hes willing to make the change himself. if all fails i would go the route of endangering the family. you have to try and save his life after all thats what it comes down to

You should have stepped in years ago…now, he’s an adult and is responsible for his own mistakes…if you want a life full of pain and disappointment, try to help him now…If you want to see him succeed on his own like an adult should, let him self destruct…if you step in and save him…he will expect that next time

BOY DO I HAVE THOUGHTS ON THIS ISSUE:
you should of stepped in imediatey, when you first began to suspect something was amiss with him,after all he is a product of yourself…
not that he would of listened,nor that he’ll ever hear your words, but in the back of his mind he seems to think that he wants or needs the “crutch” to help him deal with the world. I know this from personal involment,and was discusing this with my daughter just the other day (i’m the addict-not her) If my parents would of shown me a little more concern instead of shunning me because of my problems..who knows i may of been a Dr. instead of a disfunctional member of society…. When your ignored with this or any addiction it only grows in to life-style, rather than just for fun ,,,, etc. I hope that you dont mean to call the “law” on him that would really suck ! but to talk to him ,even if only every time you see him bring it into conversation,as to differnt types of professional or family help…something …. BUT DONT IGNORE THIS, like you said it is affecting his child,(your grandchild)…FAMILY IS SUPOSED TO COME FIRST!!!
