Would privacy curtain had been appropriate in my son’s emergency?
When my son was 3 had a severe fever that landed him in the ER. They treated him with an alcohol bath so he was completly naked in the room. While they was bathing him they did not use privacy curtains around him. They also took his temperature rectally with no privacy curtains. Who was present in the room was my husband and I, my twin sister, my mother, the dr., and various nurses. My son asked me why they did not use privacy curtains during the alcohol bath and rectal temperature. At the time he was not really offended by not having privacy curtains around him and now he is 20 and wishes he had them at the time. Would privacy curtains had been appropriate at the time his naked body and naked butt was exposed. In the long run my husband and I were thankful that they cured our son.

Yes, they should have. You should have pulled them yourself when the hospital didn’t.

He’s worried about something that happened 17 years ago? I doubt he can barely even remember the incident. I’m guessing you were upset about it and have been retelling the story. Maybe they should have used the curtains, but I’m sure they were more concerned about other things at the time.

I think privacy is important, but he was 3…that’s still almost a baby. Does he remember this? It must have been pretty traumatic for him..I think he was in his own room, and they did what they needed to do to make him better. As a mother I would be more concerned with my daughters health first which is what it sounds like you were.

omg… he was three.. like it matters … it thats all he has to worry about then hes lucky… everyone was naked in front of someone at sometime in their lives.. the only way i would be concerned is if there were gay pedophiles running around the room…

Tell him everyone was so worried they just completely forgot, and if you had it to do again, you would have made them use the curtains.However, you’d rather have him live through a little shame and embarrassment than to be dead.
