My son has to write an essay on why rubbing alcohol removes Silly Putty from things. It must have something to do with chemistry but we can’t find the answer as to why this is so.
Well, I don’t know how much help I can be to you, but perhaps it works the same way peanut butter takes care of gum. I’m willing to assume that since alcohol is an acid and silly putty is a base they counterreact with one another causing them to weaken. ie: silly putty is no longer sticky and alcohol os no longer an acid.
