Who set the standards that consider someone an alcoholic?

Please do not give me the MADD stuff. I know an attorney that has represented some of these people on DWI cases. One of the members used the excuse that her son died in a wreck and that’s why she was drinking and driving. No excuse for people out of the cult, then no excuse for you.

According to the American Medical Association it is a “self-diagnosed” disease. This was brought into light because years ago people who had this disease would go to SSI & SSD and receive benefits and all they would do is sit on their wazoos & buy more alcohol. My husband has cirrhosis of the liver & was told to stop drinking (which he did) and not one doctor nor staff labeled him an alcoholic to his face or in his medical records. They are able to note that he had a past history of heavy drinking.

If a person has to have a drink, they are alcoholic. If they drink in the mornings and during the day, they are probably alcoholic. If they cannot function in a normal manner or miss important meetings, they are probably alcoholic. If their blood alcohol level is 0.1, I believe it is, that is under the influence for driving. Don’t call that alcoholic, but under the influence of alcohol and to a degree that is a crime.

Sounds as though you are looking at under the influence. Some states may have different figures but most are 0.1, I believe. That can be affected by how much y ou eat and your body weight, etc. as well as how much you drink. It is not a certain number of drinks, though I believe 2 or 3 might do it.
