What a story! Good for the sons!

The worst neighbor we ever had was an old grump who constantly complained about everything. He complained about Christmas, he complained about our dogs barking (which they didn’t do much of, he even got nasty about it), he complained about neighborhood kids, you name it, he complained about it. When he finally moved, we were so relieved to have him gone. If I ever have another bad neighbor like that,
I’m moving.

Autumn, what a tragic story! I’ve been pretty lucky with my neighbors. When we lived in the city, I had an awkward situation with a rather full figured woman who gardened topless next door. I suspect that she did not realize she could be viewed from some of our windows. One day I causally mentioned to her about how ticks will seek the exposed parts of the body where there are “folds” and how lyme disease can be caught from them. Well, she clutched her upper chest in surprise and, from that point forward, she always wore a blouse in her back yard.

my son was four my daughter was newborn and i was in nursing school and our neighbor was on drugs, i knew her, and she would ignore her baby and toddler and they would be outside naked. this made my four y/o uncomfortable to play outside so i said something to her. the fourth time i turned her in. The social worker, i knew her too, texoma is small, told me there wasnt a crumb of food in the house but she had a purse full of food stamps so she took her to the store and later she moved thank god.

How awesome that the brothers rescued their sisters from such a rotten, pathetic dad.
We haven’t had any really bad neighbors, but one night we were sitting and watching TV and we heard a big gunshot in the front yard. Scared us half to death, so I called the neighbor lady and asked her if she was okay, and she said, “Yes, I’m okay, that’s just Del shooting the raccoons in your yard!” Geeminy! I knew there were raccoons out in the bushes, but never expected the neighbor to come shoot them late at night! We live in the country and have lots of wild life around. Somebody dumped some Char Pei’s in our yard and this same neighbor came and chewed us out because the dogs were really mean and barked at him when he went out side, well, I was afraid of the dogs too. He told us he was going to shoot them if they came on his property again. We called animal control…the dogs were too mean for us to deal with. Chuck did take water out to them because it was hot.
The dogs did dissappear. It is sad that people dump animals.

I must say that we have never had neighbors that got too far out of line. Maybe one was disagreeable to some extent but not really too bad. All of the others have been good neighbors in all respects. Several, through the years have enjoyed holiday meals with us when they had no plans to spend time with family. Do you suppose that that might suggest that I have been the ” Worst Neighbor ” if I have found no fault with my neighbors. They should have spoken up if that was indeed the case.

My across the hall neighbor 6 years ago [different residence from now] had OCD…and other mental health issues. He would forage through the trash bins and collect stuff and place in the hallway outside our units. He would also yell at the top of his lungs when inside his unit; open all his windows in the dead of winter, thus making the rest of the building cold; vandalize cars; weild bats at other residents…you name it. His paramours would visit and create even more havoc, necessitating calling the police.

He was finally institutionalized and although I had compassion for him, I was glad to see him gone.

Autumn, that is the way it use to be. If let’s say a man beat his wife, the menfolk would go over to his homeplace and give him what he gave her. Kudos to those two for taking matters into their own hands.

Across the street three houses down, there is a family that has three loud mouthed children. The parents are about the same. Every sentence seems to have the most disgusting vulgar language. You can hear them all the way down the street. It got so bad the neighbors next to them, a very nice young couple put their house up for sale. A few kids across from them, will ride dirt bikes and motorcycles down the streets and do so very loudly. They just moved in a few months ago. Those ATVs are illegal in town but nothing gets done about it. Then there was the lady behind us that, just after we moved in sent me a letter accusing me of talking about her back yard. Actually I love her back yard. She has lots of trees plants and flowers, a haven for songbirds. Her next door neighbor had a beef with her yard, so instead of telling her he was not happy, he chose to tell her I said so, which was an outright lie. We are ok now, after she came to her senses and found out the guy lied and admitted to accusing me wrongly. I keep to myself and don’t neighbor anymore. It’s not worth the hassle.

Living in a rural house awhile near my husband’s Air Force base, I fed the birds; my next-door neighbor’s son shot them.
