my sis inlaw is a meth user and they just took her kids my hubby wants me to let his mom who is getting the kids use are address because she cant use the one where she is living now! my hub and i live in a two bedroom with my four sons and my nephew! i know the cps is nothing to mess with and i know that if she uses my address my family will be under a microscope as long as she uses my address because they are going to come to my house and want to know who lives there and where does everyone sleep we dont have room for 3 more! i love my hub and i have bent over backwards for his family in the past and now i just want to say no actually i want to shout NO this is to much! he love his only sister and when he was a kid he was put in foster and he doesnt want the same fate for his nephew and niece but his sister needs help and i have told him she needs to hit rock bottom before she gets a clue if ever and yes the kids will suffer but she put herself here!
how can i make him understand this?

I don’t know that you’ll ever be able to convince him that you’re right, but you are. And I’m also sad to say that the odds of her getting off that stuff and staying off are extremely low. I don’t know how you can help her until she wants to help herself.

Just have to do it, even though you hate it, I would hate it to but just do it for him if it means so much. I’m so sorry you and your family are going through all that but just hope for all to be over soon.

Yea my ex wife was a meth user when she was young. She is screwed. Going to have to try and get those kids, eventhough its really tough.

Do what you can, and they will thank you for it later.

u need to think about the safety of all of the children involved. youre familys safety is very important so please take that into consideration. theres no telling what she will do to score drugs. secondly u need to think about whats best for her children as well. her children are probably suffering becuase of her abuse and maybe being in her custody isnt what is best for them either. enabling this woman will not persuade her to get the help she needs. have a good heart to heart with your hubby and explain how u feel, your job as a mom is to protect your family. tell your husband these things becuase hes emotionally involved he probably wont see things the way u do. bring this to his attention and im sure u guys will come up with a solution. good luck.

I was in foster care my self and speaking from experience, they can be abusive places to live. Still, I don’t think that you should use your address because that can cause problems for your family especially if it comes out that they don’t live their. Why can’t the person that has them use their address unless they are just as shady as the sister. Don’t get yourself involved in the situation, you will regret it.

Just tell him that you don’t want to put your family in jeopardy for extended family. You would be willing to help in some other way but not if you can’t keep your family safe.

Lying always ends up badly. If hubby was in foster care I take it mom is a bit of a mess too? If you allow them to use the address you are making it easier for grandma and for sister, which is in a way making it easier for sis to continue her lifestyle which is a way of enabling which is something that ultimately hurts her more than helps her. Hubby won’t understand this….now. He may in the future. I’m sory for your troubles.

If you mean that your husband wants his Mom and his sister’s two kids to come live with you, there’s no way. CPS will never go for it. Having 7 in a two bedroom is already pushing it. His Mom is either going to have to get a place where she has room for the two kids or they are going to have to go into foster care unless there is another family member that can take them. Your husband may never understand but he’s going to have to accept that a two bedroom residence can only support so many people and you are pushing it now. Ask him where his Mom and the two kids are going to sleep and how he plans to explain to CPS why there are so many people in one residence and why the living conditions are the way they are? Even if you go along with this, CPS will still remove the children from the environment. Either way they will go to foster care.

You are putting yourself in a precarious position if you allow this to happen. Not only will CPS be coming out to ensure she is living in an appropriate home but you have the law enforcement to consider.

I am sure your home works for your family but they are looking at one in which she could live with her kids and you already know that it isn’t large enough for that, plus they want her to find a place of her own to show she is responsible with rent, utilities, etc.

As for the law, if your SIL is a meth user, that means she has a dealer and it is putting your own family at risk. The cops are cracking down on all the dealers and users now. Plus she could have meth or paraphanelia in the house and THAT puts YOUR kids at risk. Don’t take the chance.

Don’t just say no, say HECK no.

You need to tell him as a mother you cannot allow your children to be anywhere near this situation and they will have to find another solution. Just because his sister made bad choices, she is an adult and has to deal with the consequences. He is just enabling her addiction by trying to make everything okay for her. Meth addicts are notoriously unpredictable and you do not want your family and their safety to be in jeopardy. You also don’t want your good name wrapped up in this mess!
