What should I do if my BIL pregnant GF is addicted to crack?

My Brother – in – laws girlfriend is a proud user of Cocaine and other heavy drugs. She has heart problems most likely as a result. She is now pregnant and it is assumed that she has stopped however she is 19 and immature so she does leave my BIL frequently to go home when she is upset with him. Her younger brother at home is also an addict.

Now my main concern is that she adamant that she is going to continue doing cocaine after she has the baby which is Absolutely disgusting behavior!!

I am very worried about my nephew as he is already a high risk pregnancy.

What would you do? Can Child Services help in alberta? Or with they likely shrug it off? Is there oh er organizations in alberta that can help?

Child services can be called but won’t take action against the mother until the child is born.

you might try children services but if that dont work call the police on her she will get in trouble if she has it in her system or catch her doing it.

Call child services they will investigate and take proper action. If the child is born with a dug in it’s system it will be placed in protective custody and not leave the hospital with her.

CPS (Child Protective Services) will be called, but services won’t be rendered until the child is born.

She needs help but I don’t think she wants it so you should get with child services and tell them. If she was using all these drugs before she got pregnant she could not have gotten off it just like that so I would bet she is still take the drugs and hurting that baby. Do the right thing CALL you don’t have to leave your name if you don’t want to give it out.

You can inform child protective services, but as the first poster said, I’m not sure anything can be done until the baby is born. But call them now so they can at least start a case file.

Funny how we give a pregnant woman the ability to continue drug use that will harm her baby, isn’t it? No one will arrest her for child endangerment even though that is clearly the case. No one will order her rehab because that infringes on *her* rights. This is a sad case.

I’m so sorry for your nephew. Honestly the best thing you can do right now is pray for that baby to be as healthy as possible. I will do the same.

The hospital will test for drugs, if they find it, the kid is gone. She will be arrested and she deserves to be. Drugs are illegal, call the cops. Have her thrown in jail.

It’s time for an intervention??!!! I’m being serious here, that poses some serious health risks to her unborn child…and just so you know it may not be your BIL’s child… crack heads are known to prostitute when they run out of money.

I’d call social services and see what they say, if that doesn’t solve the problem look up how to do an intervention!

call child services or report her. they will either send her to rehab in jail or a cheap rehab. try and convince her to get clean. if she continues to do it after the baby is born call child services and report her ASAP.
