What can i legally do or what are my rights for Child Support?

Me and my husband are going thru a rough patch (his family has decided that im not a good wife or mother!!) and he has decided to agree with them. he says that he wants to seperate and for me to file for child support.

Does anyone know of any good Child Support websites for Texas or is all the same in every state?

i just want to know my rights, he and his family keep threating that they are going to take my daughter and my son (when he is born) away from me because of things i did in high school (6yrs ago, before kids and marriage). he smokes pot and so does him mother, his father is an alcoholic and has terrible anger problems.
he got so mad one time at my daughter for playing he threw a hammer and almost hit her in the head and all he could say was “she shouldnt have been in my Fu*king way”

Please i dont need any negative responses i get enough from him and his family i just want to know my rights?
Me and him have tried to talk and work on our problems but his MOTHER wont allow us to. If he is on his phone with me and she finds out. She will grab the phone and hang it up and not give back to him until he promises that he wont call me back.

if you want to put him on child support, go to the texas attorney general website and fill out the form

first your soon to ex husband is a wimp he should have the guts to stand up to his mother and father but since he doesn’t contact a lawyer asap and make sure u mention the drug use by both him and his mother and tell the lawyer about his father mental instability this will definitely turn things in your favor

that is the link to the Attorney General of Texas. They will do an order for child support, and determine the amount.

I would reccomend, if you can afford to, to consult with an attorney. The OAG is not going to give credence to visitation, only support. So, if you want sole custody, you need to get an attorney, and file with the County Court. Texas is a mother’s state, so unless you have documented history of drug use or neglect, you will get custody. Don’t worry about that part.

a great website is divorcenet.com. they have specific forums for each state and many people there will give you info about texas. dont worry, your children are not going to be taken away from you unless you are a very horrible person now-using drugs or abusing your children. your husband will also get very little visitation with the new baby at first but will definitely be paying you child support for both children. go to divorcenet, you will get great advice there

You need to talk to a family law attorney in your area and file for divorce the proper way. They can give you all the legal advice you neeed. This isn’t just about child support, you need to deal with custody first…which is far more important.

Considering the fact his family is turning things ugly, you do not want to risk dealing with this all by yourself – you need professional guidance.

I know that this is a trying time for you and I hope that you have a support group that you can depend on. Right now, I would suggest looking into legal aid and getting a free lawyer to assist you. I have tried going at it solo and with a lawyer. It seems that judges only take you serious if you have a lawyer.

you should be able to go to the court house and file yourself if you can’t get an attorney for child support, but also that you want custody of the children, full physical custody. he would be allowed visitation rights. theres a website that i like to use http://www.lawyers.com they have messege boards where you ask questions and they have some lawyers and consumers that will usually give good advice. you just have to register.
