To ex alcohol and drug addicts?

What should my sister do with her son? He is an addict of alcohol and drugs. He is in rehab Again!!!! When he is home he causes absolute havoc. She has done everything from kicking him out to loving him. His back round is a normal working class family, with brothers and sisters that have turned out very well. He being to jail for drug related offences, that didnt work. He is 22 now, what hope does he have. I want advice for my sister and what she to do, to help herself, her husband and the rest of the family. What was once a hapy family is now in turmoil. He is a really nasty addict.

Mr IQ, When is rock bottom, everytime he hits rock bottom, we were wrong. For the record my sister does not enable his addictions in anyway, finacially or otherwise.

She’s got a wreck on her hands. I’ll bet since he’s a loser she still gives him money, huh? How about not doing that?

Like the riddle that asks, how many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?

One, but the light bulb has to WANT to change. When he’s used everyone he can use and has hit rock bottom, then maybe he will seek help to change and his family or whoever can be there when that happens–or he can die of an overdose or an infectious disease.

Either he will get help and change or he will die. That’s the road he’s on. No one can help him now. If you’re disposed to prayer, pray that the light shines on him when he needs it and that he sees it.

My suggestions are as follows; Tu ff love is defined by parents just like your sister. #1 Trick him into signing a document entitled Parentis Loco and have it notarized. This is legally binding in all 50 states in the USA. Once that is signed and a notary puts their seal on it his mother is his legal guardian again as if he was still a minor child. Then she can save his life by having him committed to a hospital where he can spend the rest of his natural life or not. #2 buy her child a burial plot,casket and a grave marker. I know this is extreme but its much more humane than what her son is subjecting his mother to every second of every day of her life.
