I purchased my home in December 2008. It came with a Guest house. I was very happy to have this guesthouse because I wanted to rent it out to my son for 400 dollars a month. It’s very nice and fairly new. I also need to add that I live in San Diego California where the cost of living is pretty high.
Before I moved my son in I set down some ground rules. I told him that I am moving him into the house so that he can get himself established. He is to work, go to school and not do drugs. He agreed. I am 6 years clean from drugs and alcohol and I refuse to let anyone take away my sobriety. I drug tested him and he came back clean.
Since he has been living with me he has paid a total of 500.00. He paid 400 dollars in February, 100 dollars in March, and nothing since. I was starting to get a little concerned. He hasn’t started school and he is hardly working.
This past weekend I was in New York and his girlfriend called and told me that my son and his friends are in the guesthouse smoking marijuana. She told me that they always do it in the house when I go away for the weekend. She also told me that when I tested him he had purchased some synthetic urine from the smoke shop and that is why he came back clean. I came home and confronted my son (not telling him where I got my information). I asked him to leave my home by July 4th weekend. He agreed that it was time seeing that he is 23 years old and he needs to move on. Do you feel that I gave him enough time to leave? Also, do you think that there is anything that I should have done differently? Thank you in advance for your answers.

My english teacher is a major feminist. She has a 26 year old lesbian daughter and a 23 year old son who smokes a lot of weed and does cocaine. She listens to reggae, mainly Bob Marley, and really likes to go on hikes and bike rides. She never watches tv except for the occasional CNN and loves to read the newspaper. Shes is also very knowlegable on alternative energy and drinks like 4 cups of coffee a day. Shes just really laid back and chill. So do you think she sounds like she smokes pot or is a lesbian? cause thats what the rumors going around say.
I knew someone would say that im stereotyping. Listen, i dont give a crap if it sounds like im stereotyping to you because it just so happens that most of those things about her, i relate to and i AM gay and smoke weed so i was thinking she might too. And good job of you to notice that im either in high school or middle school.. the only other option would be college, so congrats on being smart enough to cancel that out. By the way, i just graduated high school and am actually extremely open minded and non judgemental compared to everyone else i know so dont call me immature unless you know me.

I have allowed my younger brother to live with myself, my fiance, and my newborn son. He does pay rent, but a much smaller portion than we do. I have repeatedly asked him to not smoke his pot in the house, especially when the baby is home. He also smokes cigarettes, but always outside. I understand his reluctance to smoke pot outside, but he has many friend’s houses he could go to. I feel very betrayed that he consistently chooses drugs over his nephew. It culminated the other night, and I took my son and slept at my parents house, just to get him away. I have not spoken to my brother since (he is on vacation for a week), but I cannot allow this to go on around my child. At the same time, I do not want to give up on my brother because I know he does this to avoid dealing with personal tragedies. I can’t ask him to stop smoking, he is an adult and an admitted addict, but he WILL not do it in the vincinity of my child. Is this a lost cause, and am I going to have to kick him out?

So I found out that my 15 year old smokes weed every friday at his friends house and sometimes at his brothers house. I don’t know anything about weed, I only smoked it once.

My son is a healthy kid, he passes his classes and is active. I didn’t get that mad at him, and my boyfriend didn’t really care either because he used to do cocaine when he was young. I told my son that pot will ruin his life and he will end up on the street if he keeps doing it, and that it kills his brain cells and I couldn’t believe what I saw but he bursted out in laughter. He knows everything about pot, and almost convinced me that marijuana is not even as bad as alchohol and doesn’t kill your braincells and that it is not addicting either.

My boyfriend and my older son both said I shouldn’t worry about him doing it on weekends, as long as he isn’t doing other drugs. They both said its fine.

What would you do?
