I have a five year old son. His biological father died when he was barely a year old from an alcohol induced accident. His father was an alcoholic, didn’t do anything with him or for him and only pretended to be the model father in front of family and friends. He was also very verbally abusive. I have tried over the years to keep in contact with his side of the family and I get a Christmas card if I am lucky. His own Grandmother, who begged me to stay with her after he passed, makes no attempts to keep in touch with him. The last time I called all of them they all told me that they couldn’t afford the long distance phone bills, so I would have to call them if I wanted to talk to them. My current husband is the only father my son has known or even remembers. I have shown him pictures on regular occasions of his biological father, but he still says it’s Daddy and points to my husband. I understand it still may be too early for him to comprehend the situation, but this is where my dilemma comes in. My husband doesn’t want me to ever tell my son about his birth father. I don’t know if it’s because he is worried about him looking at him differently or one day walking away to try and be close to his biological family. I told my husband that one day I was going to explain to him what happened and talk to him about his biological father, even though he wasn’t the best person in the world. He is upset and thinks I should never bring it up to my son. I have always planned on telling my son because he is his birth father. Can a few people leave their thoughts for me, serious thoughts please, and let me know if they think I am wrong for my reasoning?

I liked Savannah as a girl’s name, my husband didn’t because GM makes a van w/ the same name. So when i asked him suggestions for a boy, he said Chevy as a joke. My 22 year old son refuses to work,he lies to me and says he is and when I find out the truth then he asks me for food and money, he messes with drugs and alcohol, he lies constantly. Like I think its totally inappropriate. There will be lots of 18-21 year olds there including my husband (the guest of honor), myself (a girl with a tummy “full of babt lol), and friends. My husband made a friend at his US ARmy Training Base so he decided to spend his two week Leave with our us because he only has a step dad and him mom had him out of wedlock. Anyway, first I don’t think it is ethical to give guests of any age alcoholic beverage unless they can show us a plan for how they intend to get home without driving. My husband and I got married 9 years ago and 8 and 1/2 years ago my step-son was dumped on us. His mother disappeared for 8 months and when she returned she didn’t want him back. My step-son was a little over 2 yrs. old at the time. When he came to live with us he was out of control. By 3 yrs old he was kicked out of 3 daycares and at 4 kicked out of pre-school. He would beat up my 4 yr. old and was very underdeveloped. My husband traveled for his job and would be gone 6 weeks at a time which left full responsibility of this kid on me. At 6 years old my step-son was diagnosed with ADHD and Fetal Alcohol syndrome. The last 4 years has been a major struggle in my marriage. I have told my husband that I can’t handle him anymore but he just doesn’t care. It even got to the point that I told him that he had to choose between my step-son and the rest of the family including myself and his other 2 children and he had said he would choose my step-son over the rest of us. My step-son is disrespectable, abusive, lazy and agues about everything. He is constantly fighting with our 7 yr. old and has hurt our 8 month old on several occasions. I can’t discipline my step-son because my husband is always defending him. My step-son will lie all the time and I will catch him in the lie and my husband will tell me to stay out of it. It is to the point that we are fighting on a daily basis over the things my step-son does or says. I have so much anger toward this kid because he is destroying my family and the relationship with my husband. My step-sons mother is willing to take him but my husband wont let him live there. I have been raising this child on my own for the last 9 years. He was only 2 when he started living with me so the part where everyone said poor kid got abandond by his mother well he doesn’t even know so no that isn’t the reason why he is out of control. I am 23 years old, and am concerned that if something happens to my mom custody of my six-year old brother would go to her abusive/alcoholic ex-husband. Can she write a valid will at home to give me custody just in case? Her ex-husb. has a long criminal record incl. repeat DUI, DWI, Drunk in Public, and Possession charges, so maybe I don’t need to even worry, because a court would see that he is unfit. I work full-time, have my own car, and make enough to support my brother & I, so I like to think I could get custody. Still, I want to know how I can get a will for her done, we don’t have the money for a lawyer….Thanks!

I had today off and I told my exwife I was planning on getting hammered in the morning and continue drinking until I pass out tonight. Well she told me she promised my son that I would come over fully knowing I planned on being drunk all day. So obvioiusly I didn’t show up. As I’m sitting here drinking I keep asking why don’t I feel any guilt? I am almost aggravated that she just put me in the position to choose drinking or my son. She tried that with our relationship while we were married and look where that got her. I’ll buy him a Transformer or something to make up for it but I guess I am just a strong person who keeps to their convictions

Okay, heres my story. My son has been friends with his older male cousin(he’ll remain nameless) for many years. In fact his cousin considers my son his best friend. But lately I’ve been noticing that his cousin has been acting strange. In fact he gets weirder every year. I investigated his family. His dad is a low life alcoholic that beats him and has their German Shepard attack him. Then his Step mom is a psycho who is obsessed with looking younger and she constantly abuses verbally and psychologically her step son. Threatens to make him go sleep outside. Then his siblings leave garbage in his room and that causes his Dad to beat him and his mom to cuss at him. Now she won’t let him have any friends over. She says their idiots. And she no longer calls him by his name, she calls him stupid. Now here’s the bad part, the kid has been speaking less and less, harming himself, playing with knives,getting dangerously close to my son, and now wants to kill the family except for my son.
The boy has been cutting his face, and wearing masks to hide his “ugly” face. He draws pictures of his whole family burning in hell saying he “did God’s work and sent them there” and it shows a picture of him and my son(his cousin) in Heaven saying “we’re good boys and God’s perfect Angels”. BTW, my son is 7, the boy is 8. The Step mom goes out and brings home other men and has them strip in front of the boy and they make out. Also did I forget to mention the boy masturbates to dead things and mutilated things? He sometimes just sits and stares into space, doesn’t move or talk. I have no clue what could happen. I am worried he might try to harm people and come for my son.

My son , age 30, addicted to crack cocaine. He has been willingly in several rehabs but always walks away. We , his parents have had him arrested for stealing our things and he did a year in the county jail. He tried suicide there. When he was released , went to rehab walked away again. He is Bipolar, says he really wants to do right and I believe him. Can’t overcome his addiction. We have gotten his meds to him, tried psychologist, rehab, prayer, Is there anything we haven’t done besides let him self destruct?
