On the way home from work tonight my father in law stopped at the store bought a beer and drank all of it while driving the six minute drive home from the store. It is not the first time this has happened. He told us it was normal and everyone does that? Do they? Are we all being too uptight to be concerned about this? He drinks alone, he hides beer all over the house, he fights with his wife about how he can drink if he wants to – its his right. It seems to us he has a problem. Plus, he is the son of two alcoholics, grandson of one and nephew of two others. My husband is worried that Dad is following in their footsteps, are we concerned for no reason?
We showed him your answers and he insists it is not a big deal. He started blaming others for his actions and then walked out and refused to listen or speak about it. He said he knows he does not have a problem. Is it denial?

Like I think its totally inappropriate. There will be lots of 18-21 year olds there including my husband (the guest of honor), myself (a girl with a tummy “full of babt lol), and friends. My husband made a friend at his US ARmy Training Base so he decided to spend his two week Leave with our us because he only has a step dad and him mom had him out of wedlock. Anyway, first I don’t think it is ethical to give guests of any age alcoholic beverage unless they can show us a plan for how they intend to get home without driving. How do I tell them it is not a good idea?
I’m stuck with my job and my 5 year old son. Since I pretty much am stuck doing the parenting thing and am in a personal jail cell for the next 13 years, I can’t go out much. At least until the boy goes to sleep.
I wonder what a bike ride by myself would feel like? Like a trip to Paris, that’s what.
What is the cheapest alcohol I can get that will help me relax when the little monster finally gets to sleep at night? Damn it, I deserve a break and a chance to relax after everything my stupid ex and his son have done to me.
I am petrified that my son and his friend are alcoholics. I went to his apt and their fridge was full of alcohol. I had our priest call him to talk to him about it. Then he calls me up later and just explodes on me. He is like almost everyone my age I know drinks on the weekends thats what we do. Then he tells me that he is not a child and I need to back off and stop being so nosy. We tried so0 hard to raise him in a nice suburban christian neighborhood and now hes moved off into the filth of Chicago. He has black gangster neighbors and when I was there 2 of them walked in opened up his fridge and grabbed a beer. Then instead of reading up on his career or doing adult things they all just sit down and play his xbox. Then I saw my daughter on facebook and looked at his page and he had pictures of him always holding a beer and there were these black and Hispanic hookers in all these pictures with him. Instead of listening to my advice and going to a church singles group to find a nice christian suburban girl he hangs out with these trashy Chicago girls. Does he want to get arrested for gang activity and get STD’s from these filthy people he hangs out with? What is wrong with my son? Is there anything I could do about it?

What can I do, I am a workaholic, have a daughter who is using meth, a son who does not have a rewarding job.
I have a good husband, make good money, but I smoke, drink, and my blood pressure is up. I tried Chantix, but it made my blood pressure even worse. What do I do…..I feel like I am dying…..my coping mechanism is shot…………….how do I get help…..does anyone have any answers for me. I just feel like I have no control. I can’t quit smoking, I love drinking beer. I am a walking time bomb. Will religion help me, meditation, maybe some counseling, maybe religion……..I am lost … and I cannot find my way………is there anyone out there that can help me, please………I have always helped others……don’t like to ask for help, but I feel like I am at the end of the road….any understand people with knowledge of what I should do out there. please tell me what site to find the proper info on letting toddlers take even little sips of alcohol. is dangerous. I know that I’ve read that it can cause big problems. He’s the biggest A-hole on the planet and he won’t listen to me. I need proof.
I asked this b/c this girl told me her health teacher said alcohol burns holes in the brian which is not true whatsoever.
And then I rememberd when a health teacher told me that alcohol is the worst drug in the world, and its the last one we should try.
So would your prefer:
Seeing you kids with a few friends drinking beer watching basketball underage acting silly.
OR
Seeing them smoking meth and twiching walking around in circles really fast.
Or even worse:
Find your son or daughter passed out drunk on a couch.
Or just find him/her in a park after being missing for 3 days were he/she hassnt slept or ate in 3 days sractching themselves as the drug wears.
Im just saying this b/c if health teachers are saying Alcohol is the worst but notice everyone uses and seems just fine then why would Meth be that bad?

Is it okk if I accidentally servd my 3rd grade son a beer for diner? He didnt notice or complain about the taste, I think he might be alcoholic. But it helped him fall asleep. Is it ok?
I think the law is quite silly when it comes to alcohol. I just want some opinions, should I give my son a couple of beers? He’s 18 and worked hard enough so I think he deserves it.
He mixes and will yell he is crazy…cry…he has busted a glass out..broken things..hit me ..went nuts..he does not live with me..he has done this when visiting..he has changed after he started mixing the two…is this normal
Im thinking about giving my son nonalcoholic beer in his lunch bag when he goes to school. The only rules it says about alcohol is nothing with alcohol is permitted and nonalcoholic beer has no alcohol in it.

I am making chili and just added a beer for flavor. How long does it need to cook for the alcohol to be gone? I would like to send this with my son for lunch tommorow and would hate to be called to pick up my drunk 6 year old from school…lol.

My sons have to go stay with their dad for a month during the summer and while he was there in July my son said his dad went and bought a lot of beer and they sat and drank it one night….my x is not being a parent and i think this is some kind of abuse…my x even knew about my son drinking at a friends this weekend and didn’t even call and tell me about it. My son said he told his dad and his dad said “just don’t do anything crazy”…i had a police officer come and talk with my son and explain the consequences and i hope it helps…but i don’t know what to do about this x…my son hates me because i have rules…i don’t want my son to grow up being a alcoholic like his father. And my son is very hateful toward me, because he says all i do is harp. And he gets mad and very physical..i told him i would take him to therapy but he said if i tried it he would just run away.
I haven’t had a drink in 8 years, and it’s common knowledge that I’m an alcoholic. I wasn’t drinking and don’t cover up what I am. I think it can be a good lesson to others.

My 15 year old son has been asking for one beer per week. I have been giving him one beer per week. I have recently reconsidered this idea. I am conserned that he will have health issues in the future, and possibly become an alcoholic. I have heared in the past that alcoholism is Hereditary, However, I love my son, and I don’t want him to blame me in the future if he has problems. Remember, This is only one beer a week, not Spirits. Thank you for your input.
The other night, my son went to a rave with his friend, my friend who works at the rave place was on the phone with me said that my son drank some alcohol – free beer and he said not to be worried, should I be worried, though? My son is 15.
