My aunt is addicted to prescription drugs and has been for a while. She also has an eating disorder. She only drinks water and never eats. She is also addicted to smoking. She takes pain killers and morophene patches constantly. She doesn’t even need them but one doctor she goes to continues to prescribe them. He even knows whats going on. She gets so high on the pain killers sometimes she passes out in bed with a cigerette lit and she has almost burnt herself up multiple times. She gets so bad she can’t walk or talk she is so high on them. She don’t even know where she is and what day it is. I have suggested to my other aunts that we should do something but they say that the only person that can do anything about it is her son and husband (that is is seperated from). Her son is an alcoholic and doesn’t care and her husband would never say anything about what she is doing. I fear I am the only one that can help. Is there anything I can do to help her?

My brother’s ex-girlfriend (who is now married with a young child) is petitioning to have my brother’s parental rights terminated (he is a drug addict). While I do not wholly disagree with her, she does use my nephew as a pawn for control. She has an extremely long history of lying, as well as drug use herself. For example, she said she joined the National Guard, and then “didn’t have to go any more.” She has no separation papers to prove the military let her go. When I did tell her where to find my brother, she cut off all contact. She does not return my calls anymore (I was the only one she would speak to on my side of the family). My concern is that if my brother’s parental rights are terminated, I will have no legal right to see my nephew. Can I sue her for visitation rights even though I am his aunt? I’m not working right now, so I don’t have the money to hire a lawyer and I am at my wits end in this matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK so my aunt has been really sick for more than 2 weeks and isn’t getting better but won’t go to the doctor. She’s been puking a lot and has diarrhea and is really weak and her face broke out in little blisters, but that could have been an acne flair up. Everyone figured it was a virus but her husband and teenage son haven’t caught it so it can’t be something contagious. Besides her and her son barely leave the house enough to catch anything. My aunt is in her early 50′s, Caucasian, pretty overweight, and smokes. She also has a binge drinking problem and a prescription pill problem, but she hasn’t had any alcohol or pills for days because she can’t keep anything down, exept in the past few days she has been able to keep down a steak egg and cheese fast food biscuit, a baked potato, and some salad. I don’t know her family history because she’s not my blood aunt. I’m getting really worried and just wondered if anyone knew what it might be?
Yeah, I know her lifestyle sucks but this all happened so suddenly…and if it was a virus/infection her son would have caught it. He’s been caring for her
