There is no tolerance to atabuse, the longer it is taken, the stronger its effects which leads me to believe, your son is not taking the medication. I understand how difficult this most be for you, but the truth with alcoholics is that only until he makes the commitment to quit and admits he has a drinking problem it will be very hard to help him.
