Sorry, The law is the Law. No one under 21 is allowed to drink. He may chose to do whatever he wants,but when the law says NO then it’s NO.

If the kid is mature enough to take care of himself when the uncle is in prison, sure.

Sounds like the uncle is the one that needs to do some growing up.

when i was 18 my dad bought beer and alcohol for me but i had to stay at home so me and my friends would stay home and drink, i think he just didnt want us out on the road

Umm lets see……that would be called contributing to a minor. They made the drinking age 21 for a reason….. No matter how “mature” he may be at 18, it is still against the law………………..even in the privacy of his fathers home…..

Edit to the answer 2 below mine: If the main point here is teaching to drink “responsibly” then the other point must be teaching your kids they are above the law and it’s ok to break it???

I think I remember seeing on tv that teenagers that drank with their family were more likely to drink responsibly instead of hiding it from their parents and drinking irresponsibly with their friends. Basically setting an example of drinking responsibly is the main point I think.

Absolutely not. Maturity most definitely has nothing to do with consuming alcohol. You need to tell your uncle that he will just be another irresponsible parent and if he doesn’t want to be seen that way, then, he should just have his son wait until the legal age.

If he wants to in another country where it’s legal, then that’s his choice. If he is willing to take the risk and responsibility if something goes awry then he can because it is ultimately his choice, but as others have advised, he really shouldn’t.

Girl If your uncle wants to introduce his son into adult hood with teaching him how to be responsible when your drinking alcohol, and allowing him to experience how alcohol will effect him. So when he goes off to college are whatever there want be any pressure of feeling that he’s missing out on anything, and that will help him to be more responsible when everyone else is feeling the pressure of their peers. I don’t think that this has nothing to do with under age drinking, he just wants to prepare his son for the word and in the world there is alcohol

If the drinking age is 21 in the state your uncle lives in then he would be breaking the law by buying alcohol for any 18 year old…. Not only would HE, but so would any bartender selling the drink…. if the bartender doesn’t check for proof of age, it’s HIS responsibility as well. However, what kind of example is that uncle of yours setting for these teenagers if he shows them he would break the law like that.?????
