Should I get a Restraining Order?

Someone has been posting twisted thoughts about me and my friends on facebook. The contents are very offensive. The girl who does all this is 23 y.o and a mother and she also goes to our school. We used to hang out with her but then she has this major attitude problem and then she became mad to everyone at our group. She has no friends now and she’s being all paranoid and depressed and keeps on posting stuffs that is not true about us. She consistently send me mails (all documented) and tells me that to be careful on what I do because she’s gonna do something really bad to me that I wont forget about it. I reported this to our local police and the best that they told me was: ” Well, everything what she did was legal and the best that we could do is call her and tell her to stop.” —Then what? The police officer just said that she have the freedom of speech and can “discriminate” whoever she wants to discriminate. What? SO discrimination is already a RIGHT? In anycase, aside from the fact that she’s posting stuffs about us, she also abuses her child. She got a son and dresses him up as a girl and takes picture of her son with alcoholic beverages. That’s all I can say for now, but I want to know what legal action I should take against her. I want her to stop doing all these to my friend. I’m scared that one day she’ll just do something to me. Tell me what to do. THe best thing to do (without paying for legal defense). Thanks!
i already told her that if she wont stop ill file a complaint against her actions. she just said: “I’m not scared of you. I don’t care.”

this is ridiculous. i think that, after hearing this, a restraining order seems, well, in order.
one would seem necessary.

if you contact a public defense attorney, i would also file a police report about her child abuse.
it doesn’t have to be physical to be abuse. children can be harmed mentally, emotionally, and physically. you have the right idea reporting her to law enforcement. don’t just settle for the normal cops, contact the local DA’s office, talk to an ADA (assistant district attorney). show pictures, and all documents that will show she is unfit to be a mother.

before doing all this, i would go (don’t go alone, she could be unstable) and confront her, tell her what she is doing, and to stop it, and tell her that if she doesn’t agree, you will report her to the police

sounds like i would avoid and ignore this person at all cost

if she sees you not paying attention to her rantings she may quit all together

like the police said there is not much that you can do freedom of speech and freedom of the press has her protected unfortunately

unless she hits you or something of that nature i dont see where a judge will grant a restraining order

it is also difficult to call out discrimination if she is the same race you are

this is an unfortunate event that is happening

try to call child services about her son being dressed like a girl i think that would be considered abuse be sure you have proof of this before you call

The best thing is to move out of there, close your email, face-book acc,
and never look back, or you can confront her ant tell her listen bitch, you need to leave me alone before ill take further legal action. believe me you will regret this ill make sure of that. And that it, sometimes all you need is cojones.

Well, basically, when acts do involve questions of law and of facts money will be involved but if you want to lessen your legal expenses go to your Public attorney’s Office and get the services of one of the lawyers there.

In my opinion, you can File aTemporary Restraining Order with Permanent Injunction against her(If my memory doesn’t fail me, I think that’s the title of the action).This is so that the court will order her to stop those acts that she does against you and your friends.

If her son is below legal age, that is a minor, then you can tell your local social welfare department(those government agencies protecting the welfare and rights of the minor) and they do something about it.
