Even though he was just recently arrested for possesion of meth but swears to everyone he is clean now but you can tell by looking at him he’s nit.

Yes,he is your son’s father no matter what.
You should be able to arrange that he have someone trustworthy with him when he and your son visit.The court could appoint someone to be with them each time.Like his mother or whomever. -

It’s not necessarily up to you whether he has custody or rights. If there is no court order already giving him custody/rights, and if he doesn’t pay child support, then if I were you I would not let him with the child unsupervised. If you do, and something happens, DCFS/DHS could get involved and you do not want that at all. If he does have some sort of court ordered visitation you need to go to court to get that changed. Otherwise he could get you on contempt of court.

Sorry, i don’t mean any disrespect but it’s not your decision. A judge would have to decide that. If you can prove the allegatiions you’ve made then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Meth is a hard addiction to kick. I know from personal experience because my brother went through it. It took over a year for him to finally admit it and get help for it. You are right to not to want your son anywhere near it.

you know him better than i do, but don’t let him be alone with your son until you are completely sure he is clean. that stuff is bad for kids so don’t bring the kid to his house. meet at parks and stuff. keep it public. if his behavior gets worse and you think it’s having an adverse affect on your child, do what you have to do as a mother protecting her own. he obviously doesn’t have your child’s best interest at heart.

Visitation yes; custody no; With his criminal record he already lost that fight. Just let him know that he must stay away from drugs from now on (but to be honest adicts and crooks never change, he will be arreted again, remember my words).

You should always keep the best interest of your son at heart. If you feel like he’s not clean, maybe you can contact a child protective service for supervised visits. But do remember a father is a huge part in a childs life, and you should continue to encourage dad to clean up for his son if not for himself. You should make every effort possible to fix this problem, but until you are sure that he is clean do not leave your son in his care…..its his safety at stake!
