regarding alcohol on a cruise ship?

my son was thinking of filling a camelback with vodka and wearing it under his coat; is it like airline security that you have to take a coat off? I”ve told him this is not a good idea but am not sure.

Its pretty much like airport security other than you keep your shoes on. Metal detectors and bag screening. Proceed at your own risk.

You go through an xray, but you don’t have to take any clothes off that I have even seen. The thing is very few people would have a coat on when boarding a cruise unless you are going to Alaska or New England in the fall. it might work, but I really don’t know. Many of the cruise companies are really tightening sneaking on alcohol and are checking more vigorously these days.

You don’t have to be sneaky about it. Just put the liquor bottle in your checked luggage. People do it all the time. On board, just put it in the closet or something.
Oh, if you want to bring vodka back on board from some island, just put it in your water bottle and simply carry it with you.
And no, ship’s security isn’t like at the airport. It’s like when you enter the Smithsonian.

I wouldn’t do it if I were you. Regardless of what some others have said, the security is tight getting on and off the ship. RCCL has the toughest security, but I always say, they more they check the better.

RCCL, and most other cruise lines, do not let you bring alcohol on board. If you try to bring it on board, they will confiscate it and give it back to you at the end of your cruise. If you buy alcohol in the ports, you will have to leave it with security and they give it to as you leave the ship.

Why would you want to do something that could result in tighter security measures and possible problems getting on the ship?

My advise, DON’T DO IT’, but have a nice cruise.

When you enter the ship you are required to put your things on a scanner just like at the airport. However, you are not required to take off your shoes, belts, etc.

As for wearing it under his coat, if you are cruising to the caribbean where it is warm and no one else is wearing a coat, they will realize something is going on.

As for the vodka, unless he will be “nursing” it all week, he should just buy the drinks on board.

Why doesn’t your son just wait till he gets on the ship to drink? They sell alcohol…but if he’s underaged then no (even tho underaged people shouldn’t drink…), whatever floats his boat though. They give out fountain cards on the cruise and snip the top if you’re underaged. A non-alcohol bahama mama is dee-licious!!! hehe
