My son is 9 years old and said he tried beer at his friend’s house. He said that his friend and him drank over 40 beers WITH DINNER! I don’t know how to treat this issue! I have home schooled him in order to keep him from these things, but I dont know how to handle this. I have never tried alcohol and was hoping he wouldn’t either.

haha i shouldnt laugh it brings me back. I started drinking at 7. Well first off dont ever let him go to that friends house cause the parents obviously cant supervise, you can be harsh and handle how adults do, show him what happens to alchoholics and how they look later on and life and how sick they get. Tell him its wrong and it will make him stupid. Kids are just experimental especially with things that arnt allowed, just talk to him and make it a point that drinking is wrong and against the law.
Edit: Oh i missed the 40 beers part…ok thats BS lol..

Had he had 40 beers with his age and size he would have been really sick and in the hospital.Either you are a troll or he is lying.
Instead of homeschooling you could just teach your kid to be a decent person. Drink responsibly when they are old enough.

keeping him locked inside a bubble wont save him from every life danger. have a talk w/ him and let him know what it does to his body.show pictures if you have to. and make sure tell that friend family whats going on and if they don’t see anything wrong w/ it u should keep your son away from the bad influence

The best course of action is to sit down with the friend’s parents and tell them what your son has told you. 40 beers sounds a bit exaggerated but there still could be some truth to his story. regardless of it was just a sip, you have every right to be concerned. 9 years old is way too young, granted you may never be able to shelter his life the way you wish you could, alcohol, sex, and drugs are everywhere.

First of all sounds like an exaggeration. If two 9 yr olds even could drink 40 beers, they probably would have alcohol poisoning. Trying is okay, I always tried my dad’s beer with a sip. But binge drinking is not good at a young age.
Talk to him about how that is bad. How it can hurt his body and what can happen from drinking. You’re his mom and he is 9, you should be able to talk to him about any subject and carry out discipline.

I doubt he drank 40 beers. Tell him drinking is not acceptable until he is of legal age and that if he does it again he will be punished.

40 beers for a 9 year old would be impossible physically. and his blood alcohol level would kill him, or make him comatose.
i would be worrying more at this point, why your 9 year old lied through his teeth to you, about drinking beer, and how much.
being home schooled doesn’t mean anything-i was home schooled for a time, and it actually made me wilder becuase i felt i was missing everything. im not saying this will happen, im just saying don’t make the mistake of thinking your child is protected just becuase he is home schooled. -

I quite doubt that he had that much beear. His young body probably could not take a fourth of that. It’s probably nothing but an exxageration.
If you feel unconfortable w/ him being w/ that friend alone, don’t let him go to that friends house anymore.

Well, even though you may homeschool your child it doesn’t keep him from the outside peer pressure of drugs, alchol, sex, and a million other things. I vary seriously doubt a 9 yr old drank 40 beers tho. That could have sent him into an alcholic coma, he would have had to have his stomach pumped, or he could have died. I would talk to the parents first. Seems like your son is testing you to see what your reaction would be. For the near future, try getting some videos from MADD. Show him how drinking effects the body, brain, social life and everthing else. Reverse psychology might work as well! Go out and buy a 6 pk of beer or something and sit down with him and act like your drinking it. Tell him to grab one and see wt he does. Pour the beer out and replace it with something hes not used to drinking that won’t harm him. See if he really knows wt “beer” is. I would never give a child beer! If he picks one up and starts drinking it without complaint then you know he was lying. You also might want to think about keeping a closer eye on your 9 yr old. Sounds like hes a lil more mischevious than you think!

Do you really think that 2 kids could drink 40 beers? He’s obviously lying about that part.He might have had a small taste, but it really is no big deal. I had wine when I was 8 because of religious reasons and that was nearly every week. Just tell him not to drink at a friends house but under your supervision. Most likely he tried a bit and thought it tasted disgusting. That’s what most children feel about alcohol.

hes obviously over exaggerating or just lying. If he had 40 beers he would be seriously drunk with alcohol poisoning or more likely dead. After just one beer a young child could become drunk and if an adult had 40 beers he would die.
he wouldnt even like beer enough to have half of one they tast discusting. -
