this article says that there is a connection,
but it could also be genetics.
my friend started balding at 19 years old
(also if your son’s alcoholic, you might want to consider encouraging him to attend an AA meeting, it won’t “cure” him, but it might show him what’s in store for him if he doesn’t get a handle on things)

stress could cause hair loss and a reason to drink

Absolutely- people who drink alcohol and lots of it deplete their bodies of the necessary vitamins and minerals. Also, people who drink a lot sometimes do not eat- causing malnourishment. I would say that the alcohol is probably a contributing factor, especially if he has a problem. However, some genetics of male hair loss may also have a role in his hair loss.

Probably no connection. The age a man starts losing his hair is mostly hereditary.
Alcoholism runs in families too, so in that way it’s sort of connected, but booze doesn’t cause hair loss.

Alcohol and stress might have a connection with hair-loss. I recommend him to get a prescription for Propecia, it’s the only FDA proven medication to help stop and regrow hair. I’ve been taking it for about 4 years now and I grew some and kept most of my hair. If he gets a prescription is cheaper to buy it on line or to use the generic version Proscar which is prescribed to stop prostate enlargement and prevents prostate cancer too. Best of luck!

No, some guys start losing their hair as young as 16. If he is predisposed to going bald, just will happen.
