My right vs a unfit parent?

Hello..the mother of my son fell into trouble with meth and dcfs took my son and her other son out of her custody. I didn’t get custody because she argued in court that I haven’t had any parenting classes, and so my son is in foster care until I complete the classes. She has been found unfit. My question is what kind of rights does she have compared to me. The reason I ask is because she is giving the foster parent a rough time by demanding that things get ran her way at the foster home. The foster mother is a very nice older lady and has confessed to me that she is feeling bullied by her and the dcfs agents relay the demands to the foster parent as well. The mother of my son is now trying to get my son put into a different foster home. I think this is ludicris and I am curious if I have the power to stop this, what rights do I have, and does she even have a right to see the kids as an unfit parent?

It’s important to know, understand and accept that what’s legal and what is fair are only related by chance. Keeps you from wasting a lot of of time, energy and frustration.

You have no custodial rights until you have…..custodial rights.

So you don’t have a say in all that’s going on between mother , fosters and social services right now.
Even an unfit mother will see her child if the judge says it is in the best interest of the child to do so. Usually, an unfit parent will be monitored by a third party who holds no interest in the case until the mother’s fitness improves or her parental rights are terminated by the court, something the court does not do easily or quickly.

Vent on YA, then just buckle down do what you gotta do to get custody of the child and be a good parent. It takes focus , patience and a thick skin, but you can do it.

I know someone going through the exact same situation. One important thing to remember is that until you receive a ruling from a family court judge, no one has lost any parental rights. DCFS is not the final say on anything, but not for lack of trying. No matter what anyone from DCSF may tell you, or how much they pretend to be your friend, don’t fall for it. They justify their existence by doing one thing. They do it by separating children from their parents. I have no kids. From the sidelines I have seen that agency destroy families simply so it may continue to exist. If you care about your kid and don’t want them to be forcibly adopted them the time to hire a lawyer is now, before it’s too late.

Remember, DCFS will lie to make you appear unfit. You will leave messages with the case worker that never get returned. They want to take your children away!

Ask them why you need parenting classes when you did nothing wrong to begin with and you will be putting a target on yourself.
