My dad is supporting his 25 year old step child who is clearly a meth addict.?

My father is not in good health but has been working 12-14 hour days to support his wife who has been unemployed for several years. She has also threatend to commit suicide before she would see her son live on the street again! So my dad has been stuck paying for her drug addicted son’s rent and grocaries for atleast two years that I know of. Yet every time I talk to her she is sure to tell me how bad my fathers health is and how tight cash is for them. Even though I have not asked for a dime from them since the age of fifteen! She fails to look at how this has affected my fathers health! Please give me some good advice! I really don’t want to keep biting my tongue on this but I am afraid that if I say anything that it will damage my relationship with my father.

Express your concerns to your father, and more importantly get your step-brother arrested. Meth is disgusting and people who don’t contribute to society shouldn’t be allowed in it.

maybe you should talk to your father or suggest your father’s wife to find a job and help him…..but its very complicated situation you know…

she is using him to the max if my step son was like that.. he would be out on the street and possibly along with her

It is apparent your dad doesn’t give a rat’s backside about the meth addict, but is instead, crazy about this wife of his. No way he wants her to “commit suicide” over her son living in the street, so he stepped up and is paying for his living expenses. Very noble of him.

I hate to be the one to point out the obvious here, but your dad is well over the age of 18 and is (supposedly) fully capable of making his own financial decisions. I’m with you in that him paying for a drug addict’s living expenses is not the smartest thing he could be doing with his money, but hey, neither you nor I have a say in the matter.

Your dad chooses to be in that situation. If its a bad decision, then he will eventually pay for it. The important thing here is that YOU learn not to make the same mistakes he’s making.
