My 13 yr old was offered drugs at school? Should I report?

So my son just has told me he has been offered cocaine at school and another time from the same boy in his grade which is 8th. He wonderfully said no!! I know he doesn’t want to be involved but should I report this to the school..l just based on what my son said with no evidence?
I don’t know this boys parents… so any advice would be welcomed.

Yes report! That kid could be offering drugs to other kids and they could say yes. If you had reported, they wouldn’t be offered in the first place.

It’s better to inform the school of what’s been going on than leave it and ignore it.

I don’t understand what you’re waiting for and why you are asking for advice here?? You should be now in the principal’s office. Please go and make a report. 8th grade…the more reason..they are still young puppys!!

Of course you should report it. It gives the school the oppurtunity to investigate and take the necessary steps to ensure it doesnt happen again. I mean think about it, if this kid goes and offers drugs to a third child, and that child takes them how would you feel if you were his parent knowing that someone else had prior knowledge of these drug deals but didnt speak up and prevent it from happening to your child?

Yah, I totally would. It’s probably better that you don’t know the parents… going to the parents first might’ve worked 25 years ago, but these days it would probably just get you beat up, your son beat up, or you threatened or sued- by the parents!

Go to the school, and ask that you and your son be kept anonymous.

Yes you should call the school and report the boy, as well as call the local news media station because most likely depending on the race of the boy, the school may not do a thing about it. Best bet is go directly to the police. Schools are not doing enough to protect our youth, partly because so many staff members are afraid of the drugy or unruly bully students and their parents. The only way we can do something about these things is voice our opinions loudly and make a stand against all the things that are driving this country the ground.

Definitely call the police to handle this. Your town may have anonymous tip off crime line. No questions asked. You will be safe.

Just tell your son not to worry, and ask him to keep what your telling him private. His safety comes 1st.

YES, I would report it. If your child has been offered drugs at school just think about how many other kids have been offered. If you know the kids name and the grade which you said was the 8th then you have enough. Your son does not have to be apart of it. If you talk to the principal and inform him/her of what is going on then, they can get the law involved. The kid who is offering drugs can be searched, his/her locker can be searched and so can their personal belongings. I really hope this hepls you out.

if you know who the kid is you can tell the school and they can handle it and they will probally bring drug dogs in..not looking to find anything but mostly scare anybody who is thinking of bringing anything. i’m surprised there not already on top of that the middle schools in my state have random drug checks every couple weeks.

…..Yes, you should definitely report it. It’s great that your son said no, but there are probably other kids who might give in and say yes. Cocaine is a pretty dangerous drug to take, especially for kids of that age. Call the principal and let him know what happened. The kid who made the offer does not need to know how the principal received the information.

Do this anonymously! U can call or write, but do not evolve your son! The kid selling the drugs will know he is a snitch, and U do not want your son targeted.
So yes, tell, but be VERY careful how U react to this.
Tell son U R proud of him. But do not make the mistake of having the school grill your child. U need to protect your son against retaliation.

Yes you should report this to the school . Even though your son said now the kid could be offering drugs to other kids who aren’t saying no . Plus they are only in the 8th grade so they are still so young .
