She smoked it in newports & sniffed it . From 10/31/2007 to 12/15/2007mainly on weekends not every day maybe about 4 weekends of using . she is scared that her baby will test postive & she will lose her baby. Question how long does it take to come out of a newborn system? What kind of test do they run? Please reply serious & partially right answer she really is a good mother she has one son 4 yrs old never did any drug with him but things got hard and she ran into the wrong people & no longer hangs around them .

The baby will probley have some kind of bith defects, so the doctors will be able to tell from that. Shame on a mother that would put her unborn child at risk like that.

Well the baby might have some kind birth defects. And it’s a shame that things got so hard, that she used cocaine….why would she want to put her unborn child at risk? But that’s her choice….

I know that a mother that does cocaine while pregnant will have a drug dependent baby. Babies that are carried when the mother is doing drugs have withdrall symptoms. They also say the first 12 weeks are the most crucial for proper development. I think she should talk to a doctor.

The baby will probably have some sort of defect. That will prompt the hospital to run a drug test.

She’ll be lucky if they don’t take both kids away. She obviously doesn’t care about them.

She should definitely talk with her doctor so they can be on the lookout for any developmental delays! They can’t look for what they don’t know was done!

The first 12 weeks ARE critical development, so that is the riskiest time. However, honestly alcohol usage has FAR more detrimental effects on unborn babies. We are in the process of adoption and are open to adopting babies that the mothers have a history of drug usage in pregnancy, but are NOT open to those that drank alcohol at any point. I am NOT saying that drug usage doesn’t or couldn’t have dramatic effects on the child…just saying that alcohol has more dire consequences!

She should be well prepared to monitor the child closely and seek special ed services if there are any delays in the child. The earlier that she sought out early intervention, the better for the child!

My suggestion would be to call a hospital in her county and talk to a nurse. ( Don’t give her name or yours, just in case) I hope the mother will take care of her baby and herself from now on.

Well u know it’s obviously not good. I had a freind Savannah. She was crazy as hell. She didn’t drink but she loved coke and xanax. She even had sex with this random guy just before she hit her ninth month. She stopped doing coke and xanax 6 weeks before she had her baby. Amaziningly enough her doctors the one that told her it doesn’t come out in her or the baby if she stops around that time..Her baby came out just fine. Nothing happened. I mean as far as physically. She acts like a normal young girl but after Savannah had her she got back into her crap and thats when they took her baby away. Her mother and sister who aren’t much better ended up getting custody. Now Savannahs back on evrything not just coke and xanax. But she still sees her baby. And she used to do it bad. At least up to an eightball.. At least your friend stopped. Mine just kept falling. No, cocaine is out of your system in a very short time, unless they check the placenta it self for cocaine use specifically, and usually only with good reason.

Kudo’s to baby’s mother for stopping using cocaine. It usually will not show up in her blood tests after about 3 days. If she has quit now, and baby is due in March, there should not be any detectable levels in the baby’s blood either.

And Bless you for helping a young mother in her time of need, they need all the emotional support they can get at this time.

EDIT: Most likely the baby will NOT have any birth defects, so don’t listen to all those who say it will. Mom has quit soon enough that the baby will not be addicted when born. People are just trying to scare her, and make her feel bad, because they don’t have to look her in the eye, it’s real easy to lambaste someone, when you can be anonymous.

And do not tell her Dr., because the govt has everyone so paranoid, she is more likely to lose both her children. As long as she has stopped now, she will be fine. These people above me, except a few, are ignorant, and don’t know what they are talking about.

Ok, first of all they cannot legally test the mother or the baby for drugs unless they have the mothers permission or a court order. Cocaine stays in the system at the most 48 hours so the baby will not be born with cocaine in it’s system.

Now to address the real issue here. She just stopped doing cocaine today, that doesn’t mean she stopped. That means that she didn’t do it yet today. She’s smoking the coke in her cigs, otherwise known as a Coolie. This is one step short of smoking crack, the only difference is that it’s not cooked before it’s smoked. This is the worst way to take coke, it’s the way that a very addicted person uses. She needs to check herself into a rehab to stay off the drugs and so that they can watch her fetus for any problems during withdrawal. Withdrawal can cause serious problems for the baby, including death.

There is a great chance that this baby will be born with some problems, I honestly hope not, but the odds are against her.

I hope this mom/mom-to-be gets her act together. I wish her luck.

I am going to be straight yes it will have effects a memeber of my family had there little girl and was on drugs real bad and they had to send her to a methadone clinic without it the baby had bad side effects like been cranky all the time she could stop breathing in her sleep and grandma ceasears all kinds of bad things what she needs to do is tell someone and get into a drug clinic there expensive as hell but worth it for the baby and what will happen is you’ll go on medicine and if she brestfeeds the baby will get the medicine to come down off of the drug but you cant stop in the middle you have to continue the medicine untill they come down off it or it can harm it badly im just being a honest person im 22 weeks pregnant and damn glad i never did drugs or smoke its not good like i said the person in my family was bad on it and i see the baby girl everyday and she is having bad withdraws and everything please if you need more help email me tjnh200404@yahoo.com im not like most im not here to critize im here to help

I would be more concerned with getting help than trying to keep someone from finding out. She shouldn’t have done it, but that’s not the issue anymore. What will she do when things get tough again? And they will. Having a newborn can be tough. Will she be able to take care of a baby AND a 4 year old without needing drugs to cope? Addictions aren’t beat in one day and stress can drive you right back to them. Maybe it would be best (for all involved) to let someone else look after the kids for a while so she can get the help she needs. I don’t doubt at all that she loves them, but maybe that should mean doing what’s best for them, even if it hurts. There is no way she can take care of them if she can’t first take care of herself. I wish the best for them all.
