my son was riding his bike and the cop called him over to his car and gave him a bac but never brought him home and never told me till I got the citation in the mail my son is 13

as far as i know, they are SUPPOSED to call you and ask if you want him back or send him to jail to get over the hang over.. thats what they do where i live.

The cop should have brought him to the station and at least called you.

Does he HAVE to? No. Although it would have been a good idea (because if your drunken son had gotten hit by a car on his way home you probably could have sued the City for negligence). But since your son clearly was not hurt in any way because the officer released him, you have no real recourse.

It is likely the officer had another call that he needed to respond to right away so he didn’t have time to play chauffeur.

-Supposedly. But the Cop may have had to take Off after a Call- leaving your SON to (responsibly) tell YOU what happened…
