I have a 6mo. old son and I’m getting married this year the only problem is the man Im marrying is not my sons father. They have been together since the day my son was born. My fiancee cares so much about my son but sometimes he just seems to stressed out to deal with him. I love him but I want to do whats best for my baby… I don’t have the option of being with my sons father he is an alcoholic, drug using p.o.s. should i get married this soon or should i wait longer to see how things will be in a year?

Wait.You say you don’t have the option to marry your sons father – but, you did not say that your not still in love with him. Don’t jump into anything this soon. It’s not about you anymore, if this marriage doesn’t work out… your son will suffer too.

It seems to me that you are already having doubts … you shauld wait a little while. Have you and your boyfriend consided that he will adopt the baby. That way he will be the “father”.

If you are having the least bit of doubt, you should seriously talk it over with your guy. A lot of things can be settled simply by opening the lines of communication. If he’s open to it, you might consider getting pre-marital counseling. Finally, it might do all of you some good to postpone the wedding for a while. Six months is not really a whole lot of time to get to know someone.
By the way, GOOD FOR YOU for not even considering the possibility of getting back together with your baby’s father! You are a stronger better person for realizing there’s a better way for you and your kid!!!!

hmmm sounds like this guy is great. but still sounds a little to soon. but as long as this guy is good to both you and your son. then i dont see nothing wrong with that. it is hard to find a man that will take in you and a child. you should be greatfull for that good luck

Even without a child, you should wait – mainly because you’re asking strangers if you should wait – that just SCREAMS “I’m not sure”.
As for your fiance losing patience with your child – biological dads do that ALL THE TIME – what you want to be aware of is how does he handle it?This man isn’t just marring you he marrying your child (sort of) ask yourself if this is an appropriate parent for the child.

Remember you are a mom FIRST and a wife second. Once that child entered this world he should have automatically become your first priority. If you have any questions or doubts about how this man will be with your son then you need to seriously sit down and evaluate the situation. As harsh as it sounds keep in mind that its your son’s time now. He has to come first. Yes, you deserve to be happy but by the same token it’s very unfair to put your son in a situation where there is potential for him to be pushed aside or neglected because your fiance is “too stressed out to deal with him”.

The father of your baby sounds like the father of my baby girls. My advice would be focus on your baby and wait for the right man – that is my plan. Kids come first – why make you and the baby miserable with someone who can’t handle it – who needs that. They are only little once – enjoy the baby – see what happens in the future.
