I am with my oldest son now who is 18, the problem is my youngest son is 7 yrs old, he is with my ex husband in PA, I do not know what to do stay in MA or move to PA. I hate all this time being missed with my little one on the other hand I have my mom sisters oldest son here for support, what do you think you would do?

tough. but being sober and not being with your little one is better than being with him and being drunk. go to AA, regardless of what you think of it. Go to different meetings until you find at least one you can stand. 90 in 90, get a sponsor, work the steps. get the book.

well, you could stay there and send for your son for holidays and little more time. send him pictures with this computer you are using. get a web cam and you can talk like being there.
stay there for support.
keep in touch with 7yr by this computer you are using. and pictures. and web cam. web cams at walmart for 10$ i have seen them there. -

Go to AA or some other govt or social service support organization, because this isn’t something anyone can handle on their own. There’s a lot of helps for alcoholics out there, take advantage of it, and good luck!

If most of your family is in MA and you need their support to overcome alcoholism, stay there. You may miss your son, but it’s for everyone’s overall good (including his) if you get the help you need.

I have a 22 yr old & 18 yr old that live with my mother. I feel guilty that my son (when he was 17) had to go there, but at least we are only 20 min apart. My 7 yr old lives with me. I do believe your youngest one will adjust, and you are most likely missing him more, than the other way around. Stay where you are to get help so you will be able to take care of the little one in the future. Just call & write & email the young one.

You need the support of adult members of your family right now. Work on getting yourself healthy, and then you can move to be with your youngest if that’s where your heart leads you.

you should stay where you have the support. you don’t say how long you’ve been sober, but obviously that would make the difference (sobriety for a year vs. sobriety for three weeks for example).
even if you are far away from your son, you should do as much as you can to let him know you still think of him – write him letters, mail him stuff you think he might like (like if you see a sticker or something that reminds him of you – but don’t go overboard here – just little things – a lot of little things would mean more than just a few more expensive things) .
At 7 he is probably somewhat confused, but he is also old enough to understand to some degree. Make sure he understands why you are doing what you’re doing and never forget to make sure you call and tell him you love him at least once or twice a week. Ask him about school, his friends, TV’s he’s watching, etc. Maybe you could even each get a cheap webcam (like $40 or so) and actually be able to see each other when you talk, not to mention avoid long distance phone fees!
I know it would be hard – but you are doing the best thing you shoud do for your son – and as long as you make sure you try to stay in his life even while you’re apart and let him know you love him – he will thank you and understand greatly when he is older.
