Mr Clean Magic eraser will take pen/marker/ink off of any solid surface. It’s taken Sharpie off my walls and pen off my wood furniture. It’s awesome.

Try those magic erasers (the little white foam thing) It takes off everything.!!!

I would call a janitor/cleaning supply store.(Find one in your local phone book). They will tell you what they sell that will get it out, and will make sure it won’t ruin the shoes. (I would especially be careful with leather). We have a cleaning supply store that has a product called Juice Out. It gets anything red based out of carpets, walls, furniture, etc. I have had lots of luck with Orange clean. ( I think you can buy it through stores now). It works great.

Please be very careful with acetone or nail polish remover, if you are not careful you will pull the original finish from the leather and take color, not just marker.
Denatured or 92% isopropyl alcohol on a water dampened old white t-shirt…work the area a couple of passes then move to a clean piece of t-shirt and repeat. you can do this up to 3 times before you either have to sit the shoes aside for a few hours to let the leather finish cure, or use a hair dryer to cure it. once you get the marker off apply some leather conditioner to the surface.
