Do probation officers usually test for EVERY drug?

My husband is on probation for meth (clean for 4 years now)..he thinks testing for pot is too expensive and that they won’t test for it because he hasn’t ever been in trouble with it. Also, he thinks if he does have a dirty test, that they will overlook it because he has a full time job, is taking care of me and our son (and soon to be daughter next week), and hasn’t been in any trouble with the law for 4 years. What do you think? This is in California by the way……….please answer if you know what is up with how testing/probation goes on and such……. thanks.
REMEMBER, IT IS PROBATION, NOT PAROLE.

Yes, they always test for pot. It’s the main drug of abuse. I highly doubt they’ll overlook it either.

yes they do because other people also think this way and will sometimes go to a different drug then what they where charged for in hopes to feed their addiction without getting noticed. and see…. the criminal justice system isn’t completely stupid…

They test for everything, especially when the person’s already on parole for drug use.

Good luck with the new baby; I hope your husband wakes up and is able to get clean (not just off meth but really clean). People change, heal, recover…I hope your husband can for the sake of you and your children!!

The police themselves in California do heroin. I wouldn’t worry. Plus, they only pretend like they’re actually looking for drugs. Really, they’re just lying to you.

Your husband needs to get his head out of his ass. Yes they will test him for every drug. No they will not over look a dirty test because he has a job and is taking care of a family. Who’s going to look after the family when he’s in jail? Because that’s where he’s headed. I hope you have a job lined up.

1) Yes, they test for weed–it is one of the most common drugs of abuse, so they are looking for it.

2) Yes, he will be violated if he tests positive for weed–it is a direct violation of probation, and the PO is probably mandated to report it (but even if there is no requirement, it will be reported).

3) What will happen on the violation may not be AS severe as it could have been if he violated right at the beginning of probation, but that will be up to the judge.

Bottom line: why risk it? He can do without weed for another year.
