This disagreement is about our 20 year old son.He has been going out on and off with this girl to say the least she is a loon. She is depressed a Cocaine addict and Ecstasy addict.My son started to date her two years ago when she was 16 and her found out she was using drugs and she said she would quit, but of course she did not. They breakup due to her drug behavior like she cheats on him at a drug party and in a few months she gets into trouble and lonely because she either screwed up her current relationship or her friends had enough of her.They got back together in the end of september and it lasted until the beginning of december. When she was at my house i noticed she lost a lost of weight and she was shaking lot. My sons friends had to leave because she had an anxiety attack. This girl acted paranoid all the time and his friends told me she was having nose bleeds. Here is the disagreement between me and my wife,she thinks again in time this girl will want him back and this whole crazy cycle will start again. I think this girl has been addicted to coke and Ecstasy since she was 16 now she is just 18 and having nosebleeds lose of weight and acting paranoid. i believe that this girl does not have long to be on this Earth and not to be mean problem solved. my wife says i am wrong… am I ?

drug addiction is hard. i was a cocaine addict for 15 years and by the sounds of things was very similar to this girl – if people had turned their back on me and assumed i would drop down dead any minute- i would have done. the only thing that kept me going was the support from my friends and family… obviously this girl isnt related to you and you don’t have responsibility over her- but make sure she knows you are here to help her. take her to the doctors, inform her family and possibly even rehab.
if i can do it, so can she. never give up on someone. i do believe you are wrong for thinking so- she is still a person…. she is still someone’s daughter. it can happen to any of us.

You son has an attachment to a druggie. If he cannot realize this then he has his own issues. He needs to wake up and smell coming drug bust that this girl is sure to be on the receiving end of. She isn’t going to change unless she decides on doing rehab. This girl will suck his wallet dry and when she’s done with that she’ll do whatever she can to get what she wants. See what you can do about giving your son a wake up call no matter what you wife thinks.

You are so dead wrong. This girl will keep coming back as long as your son allows it. He feels sorry for her, and may even think he loves her. You need to keep this girl away from him. Drug addicts live for years, and just drain the life out of everyone around them. Your son is in trouble here. So man up and be a decent father already. Help your son!

you cannot fix a drug addict – they have to want to help themselves. no matter how much family or friend support, an addict will get help when an addict wants help. its not your son’s job to fix her.

The problem may or may not solve itself, but there is no future with a girl like that. He will never listen to you and your wife, but your son needs to get rid of her.
