Background: I’m a Christian, depending on your definition of one, but I consider myself one.
I don’t support gay rights, but I’m most certainly not afraid or hateful of gays. I have participated in day of silence (look it up if you don’t know) for two years now and plan to do it this year as well. I’ve also been mistaken for gay more than once because of who I hang around ><
I believe hating somebody because they are different to you (Christians to Gays, Everybody else to Christians) is horrible, appalling, and unreasonable.
I believe acts of homosexuality to be immoral and unnatural, but that seems like a smaller problem to me, compared to everything else in the world and it does NOBODY any good to bash gays for that and it only makes us seem more ignorant and intolerant
So to my fellow believers in Christ: Could you love your neighbor please? Whether they are gay or not? God doesn’t hate gays, they are still his children, he loves all. Yes, they are sinners, so are you, you are all equal in the eyes of God. My brother is Catholic, yet openly(ish) gay but I don’t follow him around telling him God hates him. So please please please, stop making us look bad by persecuting those different than you. Turn the other cheek. =D
To my fellow Christians are intolerant hypocritical stupid liars that follow a magical fairytale book people: Try not to stereotype all of us and try not to be ignorant when making accusations. Yes, I am shocked some of us will kill gays for Jesus, it disgusts me. And I know we don’t live up to what we preach, but we try to teach the world good morals and try to live up to them. If an alcoholic father tells his son to stay away from booze, does that make him a bad person for saying that? No, he’s trying to help his son be a better person. God is not flawed, his people are. Instead of passing laws to shut us up, remind those who will listen what they need to do.
Anyways, that’s my little rant, go ahead and flame me. <3
Ah, Well, I’m getting alot of people asking why I did Day of Silence
I did it because of the gays that were killed because they were killed. Put it this way, I do it to stand up against hate, not to stand up for rights.
“The goal of the Day of Silence is to make schools safer for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. In a Harris Interactive study on bullying, students said two of the top three reasons students are harassed in school are actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender expression.”
It’s not to stand up for gay rights, contrary to popular belief. =D
