14 year old son…? I need kids & parents opinions please!!?

I already asked this question…but I need more opinions…from kids & parents.

-My son has gone to school high 3 times this week

-He brought alcohol onto school gronds and given it to his friends

-He has also skipped school after lunch everyday this week.

The principal just told me about all of this today and he told me my son would be suspended for 7 days.

I’m going to be working everyday in the next 7 days except Sunday.

How can I make sure he stays out of drugs, alcohol, etc while I’m gone.

KIDS & PARENTS: If you were in this situation (kids) how would you be punnished? and (parents) how would you punnish your child?

My parents would take away everything from me and not let me leave the house.
And my mom would take me to school and walk me to all my classes and then pick me up.
She’d probably eat lunch with me too.
And She’d make me do my homework and no tv, internet, IM, texting, boyfriend, phones.
It’s be awful.

Wow …

Im 14 aswell .. and I would never dare to any of that stuff, but if I did. My mum and dad will take EVERYTHING (iPod, computer, mobile, tv, money.. etc.) from me and not give it back to me until like a month or more and not let me leave the house, hang out with friends.. like only come down stairs for food then back up to the room until I’ve earned there trust back and got my act together.

if I ever got into drugs/alcohol/etc, then my dad would literally kick me out of his house, I would be kicked out of my church leadership, I would be confined to my room with the door locked from the outside when ever I was not at school and my parents would pickup/drop me off at school to make sure that I was there. they might even send me off to some boarding school for troubled teens. my parents are so strict about this, I know I will never even try that kind of junk.

well i’m i3 and if i did this, i would be grounded for life! since you aren’t going to be home all week, you can’t supervise a punishment, and he knows it! He could be doing anything while you’re gone. I would suggest taking off work this week. This is a really important issue-this could wreck your childs future! Family always comes before work. Think of it this way, when you’re on your deathbed are you ever going to wish you spent more time working? No, but you will probably wish you spent more time with your family.Your son needs you and you should help him before this problem gets way out of control. He may hate you for it now but he will thank you for possibly saving his life and definetly his future. Keep a close eye on him. These are hard habits to break. A change isn’t going to occur immediatly. But keep working at it! This is too important too dismiss. You have to punish him, enforce the punishment, and watch him closely. Good luck!

My parets would take me to work with them or drop me off with my aunt (who lives nearby). They would also take away all my money (so I couldnt buy anything) and my Internet, etc.

take him to work with you and make him go everywhere you go including the restroom and likewise you go everywhere he goes including the restroom. it will embarrass him to no end that he has to do this.

have him held in juvie while ur gone…
wait maybe not ive heard of alot of drug sells that go on in there.
still juvie while ur at work would be the best way to go just ask to have him watched closely and just pick him up after u get off work every day

WOW…Big situation… My parents would ground me for 2 months, and take everything out of my room and get my grandma to come over….I wouldn’t dare to do that. I don’t want to mess up what everyone thinks or expects of me.

i think the best thing you can do is change schools because some schools have more smokers/drug users and that can be a source why you kid is going to school high, he could have been peer pressure in to doing it. you can also take away his privilege like no hanging out with friends make him come right home after school so he can get the drugs from his friends and i am going to list some sites that might help and read through them so it can help your son. remember the check out the sources.

Wow…this sounds very serious and I doubt that your son will “behave” home alone while you are at work.
You should punish him hard in my opinion. I would suggest community service is a definitely must for him. Maybe somewhere where he sees how good he really has it.
Also depending on where you live you might have access to have him do a “decision making class” where he learns on how to make the right decisions in his life.
Some districts also have these so called “scare visits to jail”
Ask your local police department about these options.

I know it’s sounds harsh, but you have to show him some tough love and he needs to follow the rules.
He definitely should NOT hang around at home all by himself and get high while you are at work. Put him to work somewhere like Homeless Shelter, Nursing Home, or whatever community service would like to have him work there for a week.
TALK to your schoolcounselor and or principal about other options.

i know it sounds wrong but hide it in ur underware my mom did thet with me and she just told me like last week but it worked for me and i was 16 so it should work with a 14 year old

it’s time for drastic measure. i doubt this has just started. You need to be home more. Being home only one day isn’t enough. if at all possible, be home when he gets home from school. In future, make sure he comes right home after school and doesn’t leave without your permission. also don’t let him go anywhere unless you know the people he’s with. not know of them, know them: Have met them and approve of them. Find out where he’s getting the alcohol. If he’s stealing it from you, you either need to stop drinking or hide it where you are absolutely sure he won’t find it. For right now, he needs to be severely grounded. No friends, no parties, no phone, no leaving the house for at least a month. Take away cell phone, computer, TV, Video games, whatever it is that you need to to get his attention. Talk to him too. As much as he might not want to, you need to talk to him about everything that might be going on in his life. He is in trouble and unless you do something, it’s just going to get worse. (teen’s opinion)
