Maiden has a pretty much flawless record (except for the Blaze years), whereas Metallica only has one good album (Kill ‘Em All). Maiden by a longshot.

Overall I would say Maiden. They have been more consistent over the years with very few hick-ups. I do have to say that Kill em all, Ride The Lightening and Master of Puppets are just as great and amazing as Killers, Piece Of Mind and Powerslave, my three favorites from both bands. The point is I can also put the three Metallica albums beside Iron Maiden, Number Of the Beast and Seventh Son and the playing field still remains even, for me anyways. I am a fan of both bands but I am honestly looking forward to the new Maiden over new Metallica by miles.

Personally I prefer Iron Maiden, although Metallica is probably the more popular of the two in terms of commercial success, album sales, concert ticket and merchandise sales, etc. Honestly, for me, Maiden hit at a time when I was pretty impressionable as a music fan, and their style of music in the early 80s really resonated with me.

I will say that Metallica is also very good and I got into them later, but for me, the fact that Maiden hit the big-time about five years earlier, and at a time that was best for me personally in my growth as a music fan is what makes them my choice in this particular debate.

In all honesty, i cant choose one or the other. And i dont think i really should. I love both bands and have always been amazed by both when i hear their music. Metallica has the power and the “Fuck It All” attitude while Iron Maiden has the technique and amazing vocals. But i guess all in all, i would have to pick Metallica. Mainly because i can relate to some of their songs so they speak to me more.

They’re more influential, have more interesting and more variety of song topics, have a better singer IMO, and they never pulled a Black Album on us. Iron Maiden never compromised their sound or image for anyone but their fans, Metallica sold out and changed for the worst

metallica and iron maiden have been big iffluences. Both of them have had their ups and downs but overall I believe that iron maiden have been more consistent at making good albums. Metallica have been great up to the black album. After wards it has been downhill for them but iron maiden seems to get even better the older that they get just like fine wine. Therefore I would have to say IRON MAIDEN!
